![]() She’s that cheerful Nurse Aide that the residents call patient and helpful. Debbie lives in Pocono Lake with her husband, Charles, who is retired from a 21 year career in the Navy. They met while Debbie was in college in Savannah, Georgia. Being married to a Navy man meant that they would travel and live all over the world including Germany, Belgium, France, Hawaii and San Francisco, among other places, before settling back in Pennsylvania 20 years ago. Prior to joining the team at Gluco Lodge, Debbie retired from Hartford Insurance Company after a 30 year career selling home, auto and life insurance along with annuities and stocks/bonds. She took a couple years off and then decided to join the work force again as a housekeeper at Gluco Lodge, but fate stepped in and she was offered a Nurse Aide position instead. Lucky for the residents who love having her here! She has many “adoptive mothers” who like to “look after her”. That’s quite a compliment! Debbie enjoys working with the residents at Gluco Lodge because each one is an individual with their own unique personality and she knows that everyday brings something new and different. A healthy family life keeps Debbie busy—three children, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way! Along with the help of her siblings, she also helps take care of her Mother who has Alzheimer’s disease. The care she gives her Mother easily translates to the compassionate care she gives to the residents at Gluco Lodge. Debbie used to hunt, fish camp and rock climb, but now prefers to do needlepoint and crochet in her spare time. She’s also a Lutheran Minister and has been performing weddings, baptisms and funerals for the past 14 years for about 150 people. This young lady obviously lives a full and varied life! Quoting Debbie, “You gotta enjoy life, ‘cause you don’t know what tomorrow will bring!” And obviously she believes and lives her own words to the fullest! |
